Songs

liner notes

Songs... the first dates from Fall 1968, when as an artless, angst-filled high school senior (is there another kind?) I managed to complete something called "I See You." I even played it a few times at the rec-room jams that seemed to happen nightly. It wasn't rock, so my boyos pitched me a ration for being so "sensitive," but the girls... I was mildly surprised to discover that they were listening, even those that pretended not to!

In the forty-odd years since there have been 140, or so, more. All sorts of styles, myriad subjects, some co-writes, but mostly just me shaping the lyrics and dreaming up the tune and arrangement. I've always used the guitar as my anchor, and whenever I learn some new lick or rhythm or chord form, it's not long before it shows up in a song. I'm not particularly prolific, but I'm steady -- usually between 3 and 8 songs a year. Lately they've been coming at a slightly slower pace, but nearly all of them go directly onto my set list. I don't know if that's progress or not!

As I continue to post recordings of my songs anywhere online, this is where you'll find the background information on each of them -- the liner notes, if you will.
